Haven't Written Anything For Ages, Sorry About That

Well Happy New Year To All My Readers Of This Blog

I really love to watch the fireworks on The Thames but truthfully you do get a better view from your TV and i know this because my son goes every year with his girlfriend and they watch it on iPlayer and say they hadn't seen certain things but frankly it's so bloody cold to go and watch fireworks that i don't bother going. Once upon a time it was free to watch them but now you have to pay, don't know how much it is have to ask my son if i do remember to. Can't be that much i reckon about £10 per person but i would like to know if you have to pay to watch the new year come in at any other parts of the world, have to ask a few friends abroad. They spend hundreds of thousands on this evening of fireworks and quite frankly i can think of a lot of other things they could use that money towards instead of it all going up in smoke.

I did get some smashing presents this year from people i didn't expect to send me them, the obvious ones i did expect were from my mother and she does really make an effort, cheque in a card but this year it was a lot of money but she said i may as well have it to revamp my bathroom which i will be doing soon but it is going to be a massive change, having to remove the wall and floor tiles i would say to be the hardest thing and god knows what that will cost. I can only imagine that it will be a couple of grand. Then once that is done and tiled as i now want it, yes i say it will cost a couple of grand, such is life and our tastes change but heck it's only money. Going for the retro look this time but as they say time will tell.

My son got me the usual and that was a couple of CD's that i wanted, well i wanted one the other he got quite frankly i don't like it but may be you have to hear it a few times before it kicks in. The one i really wanted was the new Emile Sande album and having listened to that a few times i absolutely love it. I also got from a guy i know out in Dubai a beautiful necklace which was totally unexpected. A picture of NYC with a Buick car and you add a couple of batteries in it towards the bottom of the picture at the back, switch it on at the side and the lights on the bridge light up as do the headlamps on the car, it really is lovely and that was from a friend of mine. A really thoughtful pressie was from my friend i speak with on Twitter and they were a pair of pillows, sounds strange but honestly with all the falls i have they are fantastic and again i say thoughtful. My cleaner got me some lovely pajamas because she knows i love them and not one of these people that that wears nothing to bed, love my PJ's. And finally i bought me a present and that is a new settee because i need one, a guy was going to reupholster and cover it and then he said the magic words of do i have a dog. Yes is the answer so i bought something similar to one i have now but it is leather. Nothing like going onto the net to see who has what and so easy to do - for those that don't know i hate shopping in any form so for me this is perfect and that should be here in 8 - 10 weeks. Think i can wait that long but we are very slow in getting things done in this country and i paid for them to take the old one away so that apparently they recycle, good luck with that on my one, still not my problem.

I hope you all have a good new year of 2017 and hopefully it won't be quite as abysmal as 2016, never known so many people of the famous nature die as last year. It really has been quite tragic because for the most part they have been all so young, too young to die. The last one that died on Christmas day was George Michael and he was just 53, thought to be his heart but the autopsy isn't showing that it was, have to wait a good few weeks before the tests show what he actually did die from a bit like Prince. That took weeks and weeks for them to say that he over dosed on very strong pain killers, bit like Michael Jackson but that all came about when he fell off the stage a few years ago and was living off them. I honestly don't know why Prince needed strong pain killers, guess nobody does or if they do i certainly don't.

People tend to use the phrase of wishing people a happy, healthy and prosperous new year but frankly i think we all know the most important of all these things is a healthy one because without you health you have nothing. And the one thing money just can't buy is good health.

Liz - Lets hope it's a good one for all of us and thank you for reading.
