I Do Confess I Have So Many In My Lounge And Full To The Brim.
I love my picture albums but are they just another of those things you don't need any more because everyone has pictures on their phone, i include myself in that but it is nice to indulge and have a look, my favourite being the baby album of my son. Kept his wrist bands when we left hospital - actually got the clothes he came out of there still in a box in my cupboard and a really strange thing a diploma which i got with his very first haircut which i had done at Harrods just to get it and that is in my rogues gallery as i like to call these pictures. I have so many pictures of my family and friends now that really would be too many to call and i can't count them because it has to be around 50 and all of those are in frames which cost a fortune, but it's what i like to spend my money on and that is my house. If you have a sitting room or lounge or whatever you like to call it surely it should be a lovely room to spend time in. But the picture album is a thing of the passed which is a great shame because i love them and been a very naughty mummy and showed my sons girlfriend loads of pictures of my baby boy. He was a baby then but he will always be my baby.
I remember when people use to take pictures and get them developed and then put them all in shoe boxes, well my mother did this and so i went to Smith's and got a few albums and sat and put them in there for her. She now likes to look at them, her brothers and sisters and loads of my brother and myself the one thing missing in my family pictures on holiday with my folks is one person is missing and that would be my Pa because he took them, only a few of my mother because she doesn't like her picture taken. On my real rogues gallery on the table i have but 7 framed pictures and one is of my beautiful dog that died of old age and her heart gave out bless her. My son and one of me with crazy 80's style hair all different colour's and backcombed - best way to do that is with slightly dirty hair stays better but then i use to go through hairspray that i think my bedroom was killing the ozone layer. One of my best friend and i that i found at my mothers in black and white strange to say why it is black and white and of course there is one of my Pa and Ma, another of my Mother and my beautiful cousin Marilyn and my other very funny cousin Gary. Sadly this rogues gallery a lot of them have left this mortal coil and sometimes i look at them and it makes me cry.
The why's and wherefore's of change i don't understand because i have always had a TV with a video player and nobody uses videos any more, loved to record a program or two or just by a three hour tape and put three parts on the one and look forward to watching, of course now you can watch a whole lot on iPlayer and various others. Of course the music did die when having a record player was exchanged for having CD's and the player for them and i still prefer the sound of a record. So many things change some for the better and some i would like to have back again. TV's - don't know how old you are reading this but nobody actually bought one you rented one. God knows why but everyone did and then the black and white TV and the aerial and how sometimes it didn't work in the position and you had to move it and the time the TV took to come on was crazy. Then when you switched it off there was a little white dot in the middle of the screen that faded slowly into the ether. Of course not forgetting that when the broadcasting finished at 11 or 12 they played the National Anthem, anyone else remember that.
There is a film called Fight Club but i think there should be one about the old farts club because those of a certain age remember all of this and it will make you think back to those times, others of course won't understand one bit. Were things easier then than they are now? Yes i think they were to be honest with you. Can you imagine today that you would pay to rent a TV. Doubt if you could any more. Not sure you can rent many things but when you moved into your new home that was one of the first things you did rent. Happy days of time gone by and yes they were happy days.
Liz - I have a DVD and i still don't know how to use it, always someone else to do these things!
